Life History of Serge J. Lauper

Chapter XI

PATRIARCHAL BLESSING

given by Patriarch Willis E. Robinson of Hinckley, Utah, October 17, 1925, upon the head of Serge James Lauper, son of Emile Lauper and Emma Wissing Lauper, Born August 28, 1901 at Lehi, Utah.

Brother Serge Lauper with my hands upon your head as an officiating Patriarch of Zion, I give you this blessing that you may be comforted and encouraged in your journey through mortal life, that you may know the object of your being here and the line of ancestry from whom you sprang. The blood of the ancient Patriarch of Israel is flowing in your veins, for you are of the lineage of Ephraim, who was blest above his brothers and this choice line of ancestry along the list of mankind has been like the leaven that was hidden in the meal of which the Saviour spoke that would make it better.

You were sent to this earth from the Spirit world where you resided and proved your worthiness at a time when there was a rebellion in Heaven among our Father's children. You thus earned a right to come to the earth when the Gospel was here in its fullness, at which time you could do more good for yourself than at any other period.

The Lord desires your life here shall be active and not passive. He desires that you shall cultivate the spirit of faith and humility and if there be any selfishness in your nature that is not praiseworthy it shall be removed and charity shall take its place. He desires that your life shall be lived in harmony with the expressed desire of the Saviour when he taught His disciples to pray that they might be able to forgive each other as they would have the Father forgive them. You have already received many blessings that perhaps you have not appreciated at this time.

To live in a day of Apostles and prophets is a great privilege and carries with it many blessings. The people of the world do not understand them, such as the privilege of going through the House of the Lord and laying a foundation for yourself that will be eternal in its nature. You are now called to go forth as a special messenger to a people who are groping in darkness so far as gospel truths are concerned. This is an important milestone in your history and clothes you with a power you have not here to for had, and if you will go forth seeking to be filled with faith through a prayerful observance that will be required of you, your faith will grow into a knowledge and you will be strong and valiant in your labors, and you will win your way into the affections of those whose hearts are honest and your words will be convincing to them and you will lack neither food nor shelter nor raiment but will go in peace and return in safety, and there will be joy in your heart and satisfaction in your soul, and in your labors, among your home people you will carry the spirit of a leader and not a follower, and you will learn that your mission at home will be as important as the one abroad, and that opportunities for doing good and serving the great master will be as profitable to you as anything you have ever performed.

And when the day comes when men's hearts will fail them and they who do not take up the sword must flee to Zion for safety, you will be conspicuous among the leaders who are counseling for the good and welfare of the people. For you will sit in judgment and judge in righteousness and every good thing that you ought to have will be conferred upon you. You will stand at the head of a household and preside over them with dignity, and your name will not be taken from the records of Zion, and good things of the earth shall be given to you and you will use them wisely all the days of your life and your record will bring credit to your family name and meet the approval of your Heavenly Father. So be comforted with these promises, for I seal you up against the powers of the destroyer until the day of redemption and promise you shall come forth in the Resurrection of the just and as a High Priest you will preside over your posterity forever.

Now dear Brother, if you will continue to live the gospel in your life and be guided by its teachings, all these promises will be fulfilled and you will enjoy them sooner or later. And I so pronounce them upon you in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
